A year and a day.....

0lder, and what fun we had celebrating! At my class last night, the girls (Linda, Sharon, Carol and Sandy) really went out of their way to make sure my birthday was special! You would not believe the generosity and kindness of these ladies. Everytime I turned around they were singing "happy birthday" to me, and even had the entire class (10 students) sing to me when I came back from grabbing something for class in the store. I loved it! I honestly can't remember the last time I was fussed over this much on my birthday, and it was so much fun! They even took me out to eat afterward, gave me 2 dozen beautiful yellow roses (for friendship), a gift certificate to Pottery Barn, and just when I thought that was enough, they brought out the cake! I don't know what I have done to deserve all this, but I am really lucky, don't you think? Thank you, thank you ladies from the bottom of my heart. You truly made this birthday one that I will never forget. Please take some time to view more of my birthday photos on the right under recent photos.
Today we have teacher conferences for both boys. This is what I expect to hear:
Devyn is doing very well academically, but he chit chats too much. And if he turned in his homework on time, he would get all A's (something we have battled with him since the first grade, and we continue to work on). He's a good kid though, I couldn't ask for more.
And here's the kicker; Nate's Early Childhood Development teacher will most likely be telling us that he is autistic. Yep, I said it- autistic. (for more information on Autism, click here). I spoke with her about it on the phone about two weeks ago, and she told me a few things about it, but wanted to wait until today to discuss it in more detail. I haven't shared this information with many yet because I don't know enough about it at this point to feel comfortable talking about it, and I want to talk to his teachers first to understand more about where Nathan is within the spectrum (they are the only ones I want to talk to at this point because they know autism, and most importantly, they know Nathan). After researching and pondering the realization that this was happening, (I spent alot of time on Ali Edwards blog~a life saver for me at this time), I am anxious to find out where he is within the autism spectrum, and how we can continue to treat him so he can start kindergarten in a couple years and fit in as much as possible. I promise to update as soon as I know more, and I want to thank you all in advance for your support. We are lucky to have a great family and so many wonderful friends. We will make it through this and no matter what the diagnosis is, Nathan will continue to be a shining star.
Have a great day everyone.

We had just as much fun as you at your birthday party.

You have a lot of hands holding yours during this journey with Nate.
