Whew, what a busy time!

So I haven't been blogging much, but I have good reason.

First, I have been working hard in the garden. (Warning, this entire section has to do with gardening, so if you aren't interested, you may want to skip it). This year I think I finally know what the heck I am doing (I have been studying the garden books for months), so I started off by transplanting a bunch of stuff. Then I went shopping and got the new stuff (pretty stuff) and had to plant all of that. and that's only in the back of the house. Next I had to come up with some ideas for the south side of the house, which is usually the sunniest spot, but mine is part shade thanks to a huge pine tree. I decided to go with more Hydrangeas and a couple of Rhodeodendrons, both beautiful shrubs. Can't wait to see how they turn out in a couple of years. See, that's the hardest part of gardening, is the waiting. And it's usually not for a couple weeks, but years. Not something I handle easily, but I will do it. for my garden. So next was the front, which I decided to plant moss roses because they add a lot of color. They need a lot of sun, but they seem to be doing well. And last but not least, my most favorite thing are the hanging baskets. I like the ones that grow really long and hang off the basket. I got six this year (three for the front porch and three for the back porch~ one is a fusia, specifically for the hummingbirds, they love it!). I got a couple mixed, a petunia in red and white, one called "Illumination Rose", which I think is some sort of Begonia~ love it), and another that I do not know. it just looked pretty and it was full so I bought it. So next, I had to add some new mulch (we always get the red dyed pine mulch~ it matches the play structure outside), to a new area, and of course had to make all the sides of the house match. So I have been mulching for the last few days. I love every minute though, and keep thinking of things to do out there. The madness has to stop!

Glad to get some rain out there yesterday 1) so that things will grow, and 2) so I could work on the mounding pile of laundry and dishes inside! Oh, and I was able to get a little project started for Nate's teachers. I made them little planners 2 years ago for Christmas, and they are still using them. At the IEP meeting the other day, both his teachers pulled them out to check a date. So, I am updating them with new ones that I think will be even better.

Speaking of IEP, (that's the next thing I have been working on), next year for Nate has been finalized and I am SOOOOO pleased! He goes to school for a month over the summer and then will go full time next year. We (Mark and I and the school district) have been on the same page since day 1, and I am so thankful for that. It can get ugly, from what I hear. Not here though, nothing but good things from Walled Lake.

Worked at the store's booth at the Mega Meet all day on Friday. We were busy, busy, busy! It was fun though.

After doing classes in Sandusky all day on Saturday, I hung out with mom and Tam Saturday night, had breakfast with them on Sunday and then we went to a few greenhouses over in Imlay City and North Branch (Garden Art and Campbell's~ both great places). Their prices sure beat ours over here. I bought my hanging baskets there for only $16.99, while the two I bought over here were $29.99. I know now for next year to wait and go that way.

Baseball has been keeping us busy too, but it's been a blast. Devyn is learning soooo much this year with this new coach. They are even winning a few games along the way, including the game this past Saturday where they beat the team the mercied them the first time around. It was pretty exciting. Devyn hit a double, which turned out to be a 2 RBI to tie the game. We got another run in and won in extra innings. He was pretty geeked about that, as you can imagine. I must get my camera out there to get some good shots of him. I see baseball pages in my future, maybe even a little book.

TV:
American Idol: I don't want any of the last three to leave! They are all so good. You know, usually you can decide based on wether you like them or not, but I like them all! I will be sad to see any of them leave.
Lost: Only two episodes left and tonight's should be a good one. I love this show, seriously.
Grey's: I still can't get over the stupid episode where Merideth almost drowned. Can't get back into it like I used to, but interested to see what happens in the next couple of weeks to see if they can pull me in again. I hope so. I liked liking that show.

Movies: I may take Nate to see Shrek the third this weekend. It will be his first movie at the theatre, so we will see if I am in the mood to leave if I have to. I think he will love it, if it isn't too loud. That's the only thing I am worried about.
I want to see Spidey 3 too. I really enjoyed the first two. Will have to see if I can get out of the house one of these days with Devyn to go and see it.

Tonight I will be teaching the Travel/Vacation Portfolio project at The Zone. I think there are 16 people signed up, which will be fun. Here is a sneak peek:

I also finished up the Clean and Simple pages for next week and will share once I take photos.

So how's that for catching you up? What's new with you?
